POSITION SUMMARY
The position of Exercise Therapy Apprentice (ETA) is used for the onboarding and training of new members of the exercise therapy team. The ETA role provides a construct for new hires to learn and understand the processes that Pushing Boundaries uses, in conjunction with clients’ medical teams, to develop and implement individualized training programs for each client to maintain or increase function and improve quality of life. This position further allows the Lead Exercise Therapist(s) to fully assess the ETA and their training and development needs. The position of ETA is intended as a temporary position leading eventually into the Exercise Therapist Position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Learn PB protocols, transfer techniques, the set-up, management, and use of different exercise therapy equipment.
• Physically work on the floor observing other therapists and assisting when necessary. New hires should be on the floor shadowing therapists and engaging with clients as much as possible.
• Learn to read and interpret Program designs and follow them when working with clients.
• Learn the process of documenting SOAP notes for each client.
• Achieve a comfort level in ability to lead part or all of a session under the supervision of a Therapist.
• Assist with answering phone calls and emails and defer to other therapists or administration for help when necessary.
• Learn how to navigate scheduling software, outlook email and calendars, internal databases, timesheets, and any other necessary computer competencies.
• Attend company sponsored events and participate in fundraising endeavors.
• Other duties as assigned.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Protect clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocol.
• Protect clients and employees by adhering to safety protocol and procedures, including but not limited to proper use of equipment.
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management of needed actions.
• Establish a good working relationship with other team members.
• Execute program designs for each client on roster as guided by Lead Exercise Therapist(s).
• Participate in team meetings as required.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Maintain a positive attitude while working with clients to help them meet their goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of two-year degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or related field
• Nationally recognized personal certification (ACE, NASM, NSCA, or ACSM preferred)
• ASCM Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer (CIFT) (required within 60 days of hire)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Software
• Strong writing skills and comfort around social media a plus
